The Flying Pig Bookstore carries more than 30,000 books, cards, and gifts on hand for all ages, with the ability to order quickly from our 2+million-book database.

Great selection and friendly, extremely knowledgeable staff to help with all your book needs (or leave you alone to browse in peace). While we are a full-service general bookstore, we have a strong children's book specialty. Yankee Magazine named us 2013 Best Children's Bookstore in New England!

Happy news! The Wall Street Journal has chosen us as one of seven bookstores around the country that help serve as anchors for their wonderful towns. That story will be out on December 27 in the Off Duty section of the paper. Also, Flying Pig co-owner Elizabeth Bluemle's book, Tap Tap Boom Boom, was chosen for the New York Public Library's 100 Best Children's Books of 2014! There's lots of celebrating going on at the Flying Pig, and WCAX and WPTZ came to capture a little bit of it:

The Flying Pig annual book-review newsletter is here!

Every year, we team up with local agencies serving families to bring new books into the hands of children. This year, we worked with the Shelburne Food Shelf, CLiF, and the Lund Family Center, giving out more than 140 books donated by customers and the store. Many of the books went to an innovative program that enables incarcerated parents to record themselves reading the book to their children, and the children then receive not only the book, but the recording, as well. It's a beautiful way to keep families connected.

We also write for Publishers Weekly about children's books and bookselling,  in a blog called Shelftalker. Josie and Elizabeth take turns posting bookselling anecdotes, book reviews, funny stuff, and literary treats of all kinds.
